Music festivals in India manage to create a buzz around them. But in the US, music festivals are a time to show off the big bucks for the rich and have become extremely popular. While we have all witnessed the trends set at Coachella, another luxury music festival, Fyre Festival, was recently organised in the Bahamas and it was quite a unique experience. Organised by Ja Rale and promoted by Instagram models Bella Hadid and Chanel Iman, Fyre festival turned into a disaster for various rich kids spent some big bucks on this event. With tickets priced at USD 450 (Rs 28800) to USD 12000 (Rs768000), the festival had attracted various rich kids with the promise of deluxe accommodations and villas on a private island which was once owned by Pablo Escobar. The two-weekend festival saw a massive turnout as some of the kids even took the VIP packages costing USD 250000 (Rs 1,60,00,000)! However, the rich teens were in for a surprise when they reached the island which did not have any proper organisation or system. With promises of luxury villas and performances by Blink 182, the teens were welcomed by tents with no facility and hardly any food and drinks!

The organise of the event, Ja Rale said that he was heartbroken by the failure of the event. People who were attending the event have been stranded on the island, and Ja Rale spoke about this unfortunate turn of events on Twitter. His post read “We are working right now on getting every one of the island SAFE that is my immediate concerns. I will make a statement soon I’m heartbroken at this moment my partners, and I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM as everyone is reporting I don’t know how everything went so left but I’m working to make it right by making sure everyone is refunded. I truly apologise as this is not my fault. But I am taking responsibility I’m deeply spry to everyone who was inconvenienced by this.”
Here is what they promised for Fyre Festival 2017
The two-weekend festival is the brainchild of tech entrepreneur Billy McFarland and Noughties rapper Ja Rule and promised the best in food, art, music and also promised that it would be a transformative experience. However, the performers backed out of the show as basic amenities were not available on this exclusive private island. However, an employee who was organising the event revealed that this disaster was inevitable as they did not have the resources to deliver what was promised.
