Who was Baba Vanga?

Born in in Strumica in the Salonica vilayet, then part of the Ottoman Empire, on October 3, 1911, Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, later known as Baba Vanga, or ‘Grandmother Vanga’, lost her eyesight at the tender age of 12. However, after losing her sight, Vangeliya, aka Baba Vanga, allegedly gained the gift of clairvoyance and precognition, which purportedly enabled her to view future events with clarity and precision.

Famously known as the ‘Nostradamus of the Balkans’, Baba Vanga spent most of her life in the Rupite area in the Belasica mountains in Bulgaria, and shot to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s, when she became widely known in Eastern Europe for her alleged clairvoyance abilities.
