Google Dedicates Interactive Doodle Game to Popular Garden Gnomes; Check Out
This time Google has dedicated its Doodle to the humble garden gnome

The Sunday Doodle by Google is all about fun and play. This time, Google has dedicated its Doodle to the humble garden gnome which has been a part of folklore traditions since the 19th century. To celebrate the spirit of the figurine, Google has come up with an interactive game featuring garden gnome in a bid to make us understand its history.
The Google Doodle opens up with an introduction in which it tells us about the brief history of its origin and its creators. Gnome figures first originated in 13th century in Anatolia and then re-emerged in the 16th century in Italy, but the commonly used gnome garden figure originated in the 19th century in Germany.
In the game, you will learn how gnome is made, and the player can build and decorate his own garden. You shoot the gnomes with the help of the catapult and the farthest your gnome travels, the more flowers you can plant, and hence you earn more points. You can also experiment with gnome’s six colourful shapes, weight and bounciness.
The creative team at Google spoke to an international daily and said, “Gnome figures first appeared in 13th-century Anatolia and re-emerged in 16th-century Italy. The common garden gnome originated in 19th-century Germany from the mining area of Thuringia. Here, local craftsmen are given credit for hand-crafting the gnomes as we know them—with shaggy beards and pointy hats. Propelled by local myths and increased leisure time, the gnomes began to find homes in gardens throughout the country. Legend has it they protect these gardens and bring good luck”.
