Greater Noida: Mob beats up Nigerians over death of 17-year-old boy! Video goes viral

The sensitive issue also reached External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who asked reports of the incident from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

An angry mob in Greater Noida attacked Nigerians over the death of a 17-year-old teenager due to suspected drug overdose. Four Nigerian students were allegedly attacked in Ansal Plaza Mall by people who took out candlelight march for the boy who died last week. While five people have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh in connection with the attack, they were ruthlessly attacked leading to serious injuries. In the video shared by Association of African Students in India shows an angry mob pounding on the students and beating them blue.

The incident happened when a protest march was taken out after police released some Africans who were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the death of the student. But the Nigerian nationals were left due to “lack of evidence”. The boy’s parents had alleged that their son, Manish who is a Class 12 student was kidnapped and induced with drugs leading to his death.

The sensitive issue also reached External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who asked reports of the incident from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. And the video rightly explains why Swaraj referred to the incident as ‘life-threatening’. The students were attacked with steel chairs, metal dustbin and wooden sticks and everything that was available at their hand’s reach. A message posted on Facebook by Association of African Students in India read, “All African students residing in Greater Noida are hereby requested to stay at home for their safety as there is a serious mob attack against African students living there.” Attack on Nigerian nationals deplorable: India

Following the brutal attack, locals protested demanding all Africans to be vacated immediately from the residential colonies in Greater Noida.  Superintendent of Police Sujata Singh said three FIRs had been registered against seven people for beating the foreign nationals.
