German politician Angela Merkel was born on July, 17, 1954. The former research scientist has been the Chancellor of Germany since 2005. Angela Merkel has been described as the ‘de facto’ leader of the European Union, as she is the longest serving head of government in the EU. Merkel has also been named as the most powerful woman by Forbes magazine.
On her birthday, we share with you a video showing you Merkel’s relationship with the German national football team that has just won the FIFA World Cup 2014 title! Merkel has a great rapport with the team players and she seemed to be Germany’s biggest fan at the FIFA World Cup 2014.
She showed everyone, that even world leaders like her do have an inclination towards sports. The German Chancellor cheered for Germany’s FIFA World Cup victory. She was seen clapping her blazer off and later was found posing with semi-naked German players in the locker room! Merkel went ahead and even posed for a selfie with German forward Lukas Podolski post the game.
