Father’s Day is the day to celebrate fatherhood and make the first heroes of our life feel special. But not everyone is blessed to have the opportunity of spending this valuable day with their superhero in disguise, as there are some fathers who have already transformed into guardian angels and are guarding our lives and keeping us safe. While there are gazillion ways to celebrate Father’s Day with you beloved daddy cool, you can celebrate this day equally well with the power of memories. As we celebrate Father’s Day 2018 on June 17 – Sunday, it is only fair to consider all the ways to celebrate this beautiful day with the memories of our fathers for those of us who don’t have their dads around. There are various names for the relationship between a father and child. We may call him Dad, Papa, Abba, Pa, Appa, Abbu and some may even call him by his name, but it is not the names that define this relationship but the memories that we have all shared. Whether it is the pictures and recordings of senseless arguments that you have had with your dad or the secret talks about personal issues that your miss dearly, Father’s Day is the perfect occasion to remember these cherished moments in life.
Father’s Day is a day to take your dads out for brunch, lunch as dinner and some even enjoy going out on vacations and make their dads feel like a true superhero with various experiences. And some of us, we have the opportunity to sit back, relax and relive the memories that we have safely kept in the back of our mind. Whether it is the memory of learning to ride your first bike with your father holding the back or the time when he fed you the mandatory glass of milk accompanied by the most thrilling stories, daddy times are undoubtedly the most cherished memories for every child that has played a role in shaping our values. But whatever the story today, it is important to remember what every dad has always tried to teach their kids, look at the positives. So maybe its time to look back at the lessons that made you cherish punctuality or taught you the simple lesson to never give up. Because Father’s Day is not about the lengthy Facebook posts with that picture perfect click, but about the moments we have all spent with the first and most important man in our lives.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, lets go back to the lessons learnt and remember the motive and purpose of life. My dad always taught me a simple phrase that has become a motto that drives me every single day, “I can, I must, I will; because I believe.” As we celebrate this international holiday in the name of the anchors of our lives who stood like a rock solid support, let us look back and share all those incredibly valuable thoughts and lessons that make us who we are today. It is the time that we made Father’s Day a cherishable day to spread the character building stories that our dads tried to instill in us and make this day count. Because even if you cannot take that selfie that validates your celebration, you can always spread the knowledge and the positive attitudes that your father valued so much.
