Naples: As the world continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, many heartbreaking stories of suffering and loss are coming to the fore. In one such harrowing tale, a man in Italy was forced to plead for help after being trapped with his sister’s dead body for 36 hours while quarantined at his home over coronavirus. As per a Reuters report, 47-year-old Teresa Franzese, who lived with her family in the southern city of Naples, started to show the symptoms of the virus last week. Thereafter, her health started to deteriorate rapidly and she died on Saturday before the results of a test for the disease was known. Showing her body laid behind him, he says in the video, “I have my sister here in bed, dead. I don’t know what to do, I can’t honor her like she deserves because our institutions abandoned me. I got in touch with anyone I could, I don’t want to name names for now but no one was able to give me an answer.”

Finally after 36 hours, undertakers wearing protective clothing arrived and took the body directly to a local cemetery where she was interred without ceremony.
Italy has shut down almost all its shops except food stores and pharmacies in Europe’s toughest lockdown as virus deaths in the country have exceeded the 1000-mark.
