Talented Bollywood actress and dancer Hema Maliniwas born on October 16, 1948. The Bharatnatyam dancer made her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968) and since then has appeared in various movies with dynamic roles. She was nicknamed ‘Dream Girl’ and even starred in a movie of that name with her husband Dharmendra. In the early part of her career, Hema Malini was well known for doing various types of roles. A well established actress, she has appeared in over 150 films until now.
Hema Malini was honoured with Padma Shri award and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2000. She was nominated 11 times for the title of Best Actress and won the same in the year 1972. Sholay the action, adventure and comedy movie was smartly directed by Ramesh Sippy. This movie was one of the classic hits and won several awards for the same. In this venture, Hema Malini was shown as a bubbly, fiery and very talkative woman who does what she thinks is right. Hema Malini is also very well known as ‘Basanti’ her character that she carried off so beautifully. Her famous dialogue from Sholay“Yoon ki, yeh kaun bola?” grabbed a lot of attention.
Seeta Aur Geeta (1972)
Hema Malini’s double role movie was directed by Ramesh Sippy and was a mixture of comedy and drama. One can easily say that Seeta Aur Geetawas entirely carried on her shoulders by Hema Malini. She magnificently played two opposite characters with much ease and her comic timing was just fabulous.
Dream Girl (1977)

Baghban (2003)
The Bollywood drama was perfectly directed by Ravi Chopra and cast Hema Malini with Amitabh Bachchan. Through Baghban, Hema Malini showed that she could not only define stereotypical roles in her youth but also portray older roles with grace. She has been always successful in bringing tears in the eyes of the audiences and she did in this movie, too.
Satte Pe Satta (1982)
This movie was directed by Raj Sippy and had a long cast of successful stars including Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Pilgaonkar. Hema Malini was the best choice for the character of Indu that is a mix of love, anger and support. She was a complete entertainer and maturely handled the role. Hema Malini through her character wisely defined the overall behaviour of a female to support and love the family.
