Indian weddings are rich in rituals and traditions that vary based on religion, community, and region. Many rituals and ceremonies carry symbolic meanings, signifying the joining of two souls and families. The rituals and process of a Hindu wedding vary depending on the region of India, local adaptations, resources of the family and preferences of the bride and the groom.
However, there are many bizarre traditions in Indian marriages too. One such ritual or custom is from Himachal Pradesh’s village where the bride does not wear clothes after marriage for several days.
This unique tradition is performed in Pini village situated in the Manikaran valley of Himachal Pradesh. During this time, there is no conversation of any kind between the bride and groom.
In this same village, a unique tradition of not wearing clothes after marriage even in the month of Sawan is followed. The bride is allowed to wear a woolen cloth called pattu during this time.
There are some rules that the groom also has to follow. After the wedding, the groom is not allowed to touch alcohol during the first week. It is believed that if the bride and groom follow these customs, they are blessed with good fortune.
