Shimla viral video: A shocking video has gone viral on social media platforms, showing a doctor brutally assaulting a patient at a government-run hospital in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla. The incident, which reportedly took place at Shimla’s Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) on Monday, sparked protests, following which a probe was ordered against the accused doctor, officials said.
The viral video, which surfaced on social media sites on Monday, showed the doctor viciously raining down punches on a patient, who is lying on a hospital bed. The victim trying to fend off the assault by kicking, while two other individuals are seen trying to restrain both the doctor and the patient.

#BREAKING : At Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, a doctor has been accused of physically assaulting a patient.
The incident was captured on camera by a person accompanying the patient, and triggered an uproar after it was widely shared on social media, following which hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital premises and staged a protest.

According to details, the victim, a resident of Nerwa in Shimla district, had come to the hospital for endoscopy and was advised by a doctor to rest for a few hours.
The patient said he was told to lie down on a vacant bed, but while he was resting, the accused doctor arrived and allegedly began misbehaving with him. As per the victim, he asked the doctor to behave respectfully, but instead the accused began to assault him.
However, the accused doctor claimed that the patient had misbehaved with him, resulting in the altercation.
Probe ordered against doctor
According to reports, the victim suffered suffered a nose injury due to the assault. Following the incident, patients and local residents staged protests, demanding strict action against the doctor.
Meanwhile, a senior official said action has been initiated against the accused doctor and a report has been sought. Additionally, the victim has lodged a police complaint and an FIR has been filed against the doctor, said Rahul Rao, Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
“Further action will be taken after the report is received”, he said.
