The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) corridors have many well-known IAS couples, and one of the most talked-about pairs is IAS officers Anamika and Praveen Kumar from the 2021 batch. Both are originally from Bihar, but their postings are in different states. While Praveen Kumar is posted in Bihar, his wife Anamika serves in the Uttarakhand cadre. Their wedding photos had gone viral on social media and made them even more popular.
The UPSC exam is one of the toughest in the world. Before clearing the Civil Services exam, both of them had secured good ranks in the JEE exam as well. After completing their studies at some of India’s top engineering colleges, they went on to clear the UPSC exam. Interestingly, before becoming an IAS officer, Anamika had also secured an impressive rank in the BPSC exam.
Known as one of the most admired UPSC couples, Praveen Kumar and Anamika often make headlines. When the two officers decided to tie the knot in 2025, their wedding became a much-talked-about event, making them one of the most celebrated IAS couples in recent years.
Praveen Kumar hails from Jamui district in Bihar. His father operates a medical store, while his mother manages the home. He completed his early education in Jamui before successfully clearing the JEE examination, which enabled him to pursue a B.Tech at IIT Kanpur.
Despite encountering setbacks in his first two UPSC attempts, Praveen demonstrated resilience. In 2020, during his third attempt, he achieved an impressive All India Rank of 7 and became an IAS officer. After completing a year of rigorous training, he was posted in Bihar and currently serves as the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) in Begusarai.
Anamika Singh comes from Bakhri village in Gopalganj district, Bihar. Her father is a retired Army officer. She completed her schooling at Army School, Yamunanagar, and later pursued B.Tech in Computer Science from AIT Pune.
To prepare for UPSC, she moved to Delhi. Before cracking UPSC, Anamika secured the 8th rank in the 65th BPSC exam. Despite failing twice in UPSC, she kept trying and finally secured AIR 348 in 2020. Currently, she is posted as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
