New Delhi: In an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus, several states in India have been forced to take drastic measures as they have closed down educational institutes, malls, cinema halls, and other public places. One of them is Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, which recently announced the complete suspension of classes. On March 12, IIT-Delhi announced that all classes and examinations will be cancelled till March 31 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. However, for students burdened with pressure of studies, this wasn’t a cause of worry, but for celebration! Soon after the announcement, a video surfaced on social media where students are seen breaking into dance and singing, “Jai Corona (Hail Corona)”. “Maut se darr nahi lagta, exam se lagta hai. Students chanting #JaiCorona because exams got cancelled,” one user wrote on Twitter while sharing the video.

“Happy for IIT Delhi Boys.. I could never get the privilege of exams cancelled how much I prayed Rain God in Mumbai…” wrote another.

“In view of the COVID situation, IIT Delhi has decided to cancel all classes, examinations and public gatherings with immediate effect on the campus until March 31. Please inform all concerned,” tweeted IIT Director V. Ramgopal Rao on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases or COVID-19 cases across India has reached 107. States across India have banned public gatherings and ordered closure of schools, colleges, public institutions and cinema halls till March 31, as a precautionary measure.
