According to the International Union of Railways, a train running at a speed of at least 200 km per hour is called a high-speed train. In India, the speed of Vande Bharat is 180 km, but it is being run at a very low speed. Other trains that cross the 100 kmph mark are Rajdhani and Shatabdi.
Talking about high-speed trains, China has the largest network of these trains, which is about 45,000 km. No other country is even close to it. According to the International Union of Railways, the minimum speed of a train should be at least 200 kmph to be called a high-speed train.
After China, the largest high-speed rail network is in Spain, with 3,966 km of high-speed rail network. In Japan, it is 3,096 km, France has 2,800 km, the UK has 2,214 km, Germany has 1,658 km, Finland has 1,120 km, Italy has 1,117 km, and South Korea has 877 km.
These 10 countries are followed by Sweden with 860 km, Greece with 672 km, Russia with 650 km, Turkey with 627 km, and Portugal with 610 km.
The Central Asian country Uzbekistan has a 600 km high-speed rail network, Poland has 547 km, Saudi Arabia has 450 km, Taiwan has 350 km, Belgium has 326 km, Austria has 283 km, Norway has 224 km, Morocco has 186 km, Netherlands has 175 km, Switzerland has 164 km, Indonesia has 143 km, USA has 136 km, Serbia has 70 km, Denmark has 60 km and Hong Kong has 26 km of high speed rail network.
