Indian Air Force’s motivational video for women pilots breaks gender stereotypes and how! (Watch Video)

The IAF inducted its first batch of women pilot into its fighter squadron in 2016.

Gender appropriate roles and jobs continue to dominate our society at a time when technology is making rapid changes in the way we live. While science may make our lives progressive, narrow mindset still manage to control the lives of many. While people are trying to break stereotypes orthodox thinking still have leash over women’s career options. Giving a major blow to such attitudes in 2016 the first batch of women fighter pilots were inducted into the Indian Air Force. A new video released by IAF shows how women are believed to be meek and timid but that is not what the Air Force thinks of them. The video shows strong and independent women flying fighter jets doing stunts in the air. It challenges society’s thought process that redefines a woman’s role.

The video says, “Vo ladki jo ghar banati hai, ab ghar bachayegi,” (A girl who is supposed to be a homemaker will now save our homes). The video titled ‘Indian Air Force ek ladki hoon main’ was uploaded by Publicity Cell ‘DISHA’ on YouTube on April 27 and has over 30,000 views. While most of the Indian armed forces are dominated by men, the IAF inducted its first batch of women pilots, Avani Chaturvedi, Mohana Singh and Bhawna Kanth into its fighter squadron. The induction is part of a five-year experiment to study their capabilities and practicality of the project.
