Jasprit Bumrah is the newest kid on the block in the Indian Cricket circuit. He is a rising star and currently the No 2 bowler in the T20 format in the world and also the current most reliable bowler when it comes to death bowling. He has carved a niche for himself and made a name for himself on the national as well as international arena. His tight line and accuracy has made him one of the most feared bowlers in the world. While he has steadily scaled new heights and achieved fame and fortune one of his family members is living in abject poverty and extremely difficult condition. Jasprit Bumrah’s grandfather Santokh Singh Bumrah drives an auto and lives in a rented house to meet ends meet.
According to media reports, Santokh Singh Bumrah resides in Uddham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand and has been driving a tempo to sustain himself since he moved here from Ahmedabad. Santokh Singh Bumrah’s story is upsetting and pretty sad. According to media reports he had a big business set up and owned three factories, he had a flourishing business which he took care with his son Jasveer Singh Bumrah, Jasprit’s father. In 2001, Jasprit Bumrah’s father Jasveer died and that shattered Santokh Singh Bumrah. He lost his business and in order to repay loans he had to sell off his factories. Santokh Singh Bumrah then moved to Uddham Singh Nagar in 2006. After selling his three factories, he bought four tempos and decided to embark on a new business. However, he suffered losses in this as well and had to sell off three tempos. The remaining left auto he drives himself to make ends meet and for his survival.
