New Delhi: Rumours of the former Pakistani Prime Minister’s death have been circulating for several days. Imran’s family has accused the Shehbaz Sharif-led government of isolating him for weeks. There are also reports that Imran Khan was beaten. Imran’s son Qasim and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have demanded proof of his survival, while Pakistani officials have claimed that he is “completely fine and receiving full medical treatment.” So, learn about Imran Khan’s family.
Imran was born on October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan, to Ikramullah Khan Niazi and Shaukat Khanum. Ikramullah was a civil engineer from Mianwali who belonged to the Niazi Pashtun clan. After graduating from Imperial College London in 1946, he participated in the Pakistan Movement. Ikramullah later worked for the country’s Public Welfare Department. Shaukat Khanum was a homemaker from the Burki Pashtun clan. Her death from cancer in February 1985 at the age of 63 inspired Imran Khan to pursue social service. He later opened a cancer hospital in her name.
Rubina Khanum, the eldest of the siblings, was born in Islamabad. She maintains a low profile. Rubina studied at the London School of Economics. She is said to have held a senior position at the United Nations for many years.
Aleema Khanum is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. She owns several export-based textile businesses as well as high-end fashion ventures. She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business administration. She has also worked in charitable and educational organisations, including as the former marketing director of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial and a member of the board of governors. She currently serves on the board of the Imran Khan Foundation and the Namal Education Foundation.
Uzma Khanum was also born in Islamabad. A surgeon by profession, she is known for staying out of the limelight. However, she is said to have supported Imran’s charitable work, especially in the field of medicine. Rani Khanum is the youngest of Imran’s sisters. A university graduate, she works with several Pakistani charities and also maintains a low profile.
Imran’s first wife was Jemima Goldsmith, a British citizen and journalist. Jemima was the daughter of British tycoon James Goldsmith, while her mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, came from a wealthy family. The two married in Paris in 1995, in what British tabloids called the “wedding of the century.” After their marriage, Jemima moved to Pakistan and embraced its culture, speaking Urdu and adopting local customs. However, their marriage ended in 2004, after which Jemima returned to London with their two children. Imran and Jemima maintain a good relationship.
Imran married Reham Khan, who was a journalist, in 2015. Reham was born in Libya in the 1960s to an educated, wealthy family of Pakistani descent. When she was a teenager, her parents decided to return to Pakistan. Reham married at the age of 19 and moved to the UK. Journalist, author, and former wife of Imran Khan, Reham Khan, officially entered Pakistan’s political arena with the launch of her own party, the Pakistan Republic Party (PRP). Reham had three children with her first husband. Reham and Imran Khan married in January 2015. They later divorced due to a dispute with Imran Khan.
Imran married Bushra Bibi in a secret ceremony in 2018, which came as a shock to many. A report accused Bushra Bibi of wielding significant influence in the Imran Khan government from 2018 to 2022 and also claimed that she practised “black magic.”
Imran Khan has two children with his first wife, Jemima. Both children live with Jemima in Britain. The first of these is Suleman Isa Khan. Suleman Isa Khan was born in London in 1996. It was Suleman who requested proof of his existence from the Pakistani government. Imran Khan’s second son, Qasim Khan, was born in April 1999. Suleman, 26, lives in Britain with his mother, Jemima, and brother, Suleman. Qasim studied at the University of Bristol in England. Like his siblings, he generally stays away from politics, although he often visits his father in Pakistan.
Imran is said to have a daughter, Tyrion Jade Khan. Imran reportedly fathered Tyrion with Sita White, whom he met in 1991. Their relationship reportedly lasted more than half a decade. It is said that when Imran learned Sita was having a girl, he was devastated and reportedly asked her to have an abortion. However, Sita refused. Tyrion was born on June 15, 1992, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in New York. Imran was deemed Jade’s father by a US judge after he refused to take a paternity test.
