The atrocities of terror group Islamic State (IS) continue. The latest victim of the terror group is top Syrian archaeologist Khaled al-Asaad. The 82-year-old antiquities expert was beheaded simply because he refused to give up secrets of the treasures of the city of in Palmyra. What could be more shocking than that? Maamoun Abdelkarim, Syria’s antiquities chief, is believed to have confirmed that Asaad was executed by the IS on August 18 in Palmyra. Abdelkarim further said that Asaad’s family had informed him that he had been publicly executed and his body hung in the main square in the city.
