The American television show Friends was an integral part of my childhood. Ask any ’90s kid and they would swear by Friends as the best TV series ever. Even now, after 23 years from when Friends first premiered, the series is still running on channels and everyone has seen the reruns umpteen number of times. Out of the six lead stars of the cast, Jennifer Aniston has always stood out for her beauty and acting, and went on to make it big in Hollywood. She married heartthrob Brad Pitt and became hot property. Her divorce with him generated quite a buzz and so did her second marriage to Justin Theroux. Jennifer Aniston was born on February 11, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, California in USA, to Greek-American actor John Aniston and American actress Nancy Dow.
Jennifer Aniston is well-known for her sexy looks which made her one of the most loved celebrities in Hollywood. She is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and her acting skills and impeccable comic timing has made her a well-loved celebrity. She has made it to the most beautiful woman’s list of reputed magazines several times. Her impeccable acting chops in Friends showed through several times and her portrayal of ‘Rachel Green’ won her a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award. Even now, after years, no one can play the character as well as Jennifer Aniston. She made us laugh with her and she made us cry with her heartbreak, her insecurities and her doubts. She took her friends in the show for granted but always ended up doing the right thing inevitably. 1. The one the Morning After
This is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the series. Rachel and Ross break-up after Rachel finds out that Ross slept with another girl while they were on a break (this is debatable) since Rachel concludes that she can’t trust Ross ever again. Jennifer Aniston pulls off a heartbroken and doubtful Rachel effortlessly.
2. The One After I Do
Trust Phoebe to give out a shocker. She tricks Rachel into showing her true feelings of being pregnant and wanting a baby. Jennifer Aniston pulls off the lingering doubt of feeling disappointed over not being pregnant with a baby she never knew she wanted, remarkably well. She tugs at your heartstrings and make you realize how much you want the character to be happy.
3. The One with the Breast Milk
The best thing about the friendship between Rachel and Monica is that it does not change irrespective of the men in their lives. In real life when women have trouble sustaining friendships after school or college and they get so absorbed with the men they are dating/married to that they eventually forget about their best friend. Rachel and Monica’s friendship stands the test of time. The fact that Rachel dates Ross who is Monica’s brother and eventually breaks up with him never poses a problem between them. In fact, when Ross starts dating Julie, Rachel although jealous, doesn’t mind it so much than when she comes to know that Monica likes Julie too, and feels betrayed.
4. The One Where Ross Hugs Rachel
When Monica and Chandler decide to move in together, Rachel needs to vacate the apartment. Monica feels it’s the end of an era and Rachel doesn’t believe it at first, but later on realises that everything is going to change. Jennifer Aniston is so good in this scene that she makes me come to the realisation that all my friendships are going to change once my friends start getting married and moving on with their lives.
