Comedian Kaneez Surka has accused fellow comedian Aditi Mittal of sexually harassing her during a comedy show at Andheri Base two years ago. Kaneez took to micro-blogging site Twitter to narrate the incident and in the long post, she alleged that Aditi walked on stage and forcefully kissed her on her mouth without her consent in front of an audience of 100 and more. She further said that Aditi violated her entitlement of choice and boundaries.
She also revealed that when she mustered the courage to reach out to her a year ago, she first apologised but soon turned hostile towards her, leaving her confused and hurt.
The comedian also explained why she got triggered now to tell her story because Aditi is now being ‘champion of the cause’ for voicing her support towards the #MeToo movement that is raging across the country.
She revealed that she spoke to Aditi yesterday through a mutual friend and requested her to come out with a public apology and save her the pain of revealing her identity.

However, Aditi refused to acknowledge the incident and denied kissing Kaneez. She explained, “Despite having acknowledged it earlier, she denied kissing me on the mouth, gaslighted me and asked me to cross check. I have proof but I thought we believe the victim. Her actions yesterday have hurt me further and burdened me with the task of having to do this but I don’t want to be silent anymore. A public apology for violating my consent will be my closure.”
She concluded the post by saying that the men who read her story to not use this for their own agenda.
The campaign first hit the comedy industry when Utsav Chakroborty was accused by multiple women for harassment while AIB co-founder Gursimran Khamba was accused of misconduct.
However, AIB’s Tanmay Bhatt has stepped down from the organisation and Khamba has been sent on a temporary leave of absence.
