Ever since Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut appeared on filmmaker Karan Johar’s couch on Koffee with Karan 5 and made some explosive comments about the Hindi film industry, the Rangoon actress has found herself attacked from all quarters in Bollywood. Kangana shocked one and all when she accused Karan Johar of being the “flag-bearer of nepotism” in Bollywood, calling him out for promoting star kids over outsiders like her. Karan Johar laughed it off on the show, but later reacted that Kangana Ranaut should stop playing the victim card and being the helpless woman. The director feels the Queen of Bollywood should just quit if she is so unhappy.
Kangana’s remarks worked a reality check for a lot of B’town stars. Her nepotism remark has not gone down well with one blue-eyed celebrity kid for sure – Sonam Kapoor – who has lashed out at Kangana in an ungraceful manner. Sonam mocked Kangana’s outspoken personality at a media event, when asked about her opinion on her words on Koffee with Karan 5.
Strangely, we are not quite surprised seeing Sonam Kapoor’s bitchy side take over against a far more talented counterpart – Kangana Ranaut! Sonam was at a promotional event where the style icon was questioned about the much-hyped discussion of B-town – Kangana Ranaut accusing Karan Johar of nepotism in the industry. On hearing the question about Kangana’s claims on KJo promoting only star kids, Sonam acted all docile at first. She acted (as bad as she is on screen) all unaware of the major controversy taking place in the industry, but raised her eyebrows and her ‘serious’ expressions said it all.
The one-expression queen Sonam finally gave the lamest answer by saying, “I don’t know what Kangana said, I am travelling a lot these days.” Fair enough! But then came the snarky reply, which could not remain hidden anymore. “I don’t know what she (Kangana) said, she keeps saying things all the time! What did she say?” Sonam followed it up with that annoyingly painful forced giggle of hers, saying, “She’s very entertaining though, I love her interviews. I look forward to them.” Ouch! Slow clap, Sonam.
It is funny how Sonam Kapoor decided to give it back to Kangana Ranaut in a diplomatic statement! Barring her 2016 release Neerja (all credit goes to director Ram Madhvani), the actress has not yet given a single memorable performance in her decade-long career. Sonam taking a jibe at a three-time National Film Award-winning actress so blatantly is exactly what the high-headed attitude of star kids in Bollywood reflects!
The whole Kangana Ranaut vs Karan Johar controversy blew out of proportion when the director decided to attack the actress back for calling him “movie mafia” who is the “flag-bearer of nepotism”. Karan in an interview with critic Anupama Chopra slammed Kangana of playing the woman and the victim card. He went on to say that the star should leave Bollywood if she has so many problems with the industry and its people.
Kangana Ranaut has now got back again, reportedly telling the media, as quoted by PTI, “People mistake my introvert nature or my genuine disliking for them as arrogance. It’s taken for granted that women should be receptive of whatever and whosoever comes their way. But there is a possibility that she is genuinely disinterested and wants to be in her shell. It’s just that I don’t waste time on equations that are not going anywhere or don’t add to my life in any way. It will be a waste of time.” Now, that’s an answer that should shut the mouths of both Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor!
