Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed a baby boy, making him fifth-in-line to the British throne. The royal baby was born at 1101hrs local time, Kensington Palace said in a statement today. This is their third child. The baby boy weighs 8lbs 7oz and the 35-year-old father, Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The palace added that the mother and baby are doing well.
The new baby is fifth-in-line to the British throne, behind his grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, brother Prince George and big sister Princess Charlotte. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and other members of both families have been told of the news and are delighted.
Kate, 36, was earlier today admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Marys Hospital in London, where both her other babies, George in 2013 and Charlotte in 2015 were born. Kensington Palace announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.”The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

The newborn will be the third child for the Duchess and Prince William. They also have a son, 4-year-old Prince George, and a daughter, Princess Charlotte, who is nearly 3. The baby boy will be fifth in line to the British throne, behind big sister Charlotte and pushing uncle Prince Harry one place down the line of succession to sixth. He is the sixth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, who celebrated her 92nd birthday on Saturday.
During the early stages of her pregnancy during all three births, Kate suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe levels of nausea and vomiting.
