Sep 15: The Pune Ganpati Visarjan Miravnuk is in full swing. Celebrations have already begun amid fanfare in the city. The Pune police have beefed up security amid visarjan. As per Pune police, they have added over 1,200 TV cameras in Pune and around 113 additional cameras on the procession routes of the Ganesh Visarjan. Bagade Road, Guru Nanak Road, Tilak Road will remain closed from 9 am. Five major Ganesha idols in Pune began procession on Laxmi Road. All the idols will be immersed in an artificial pond like last year. Visarjan of Lalbaugcha Raja and Ganesh Galli’s Ganpati has begun in Mumbai amid celebrations. Mumbai police has also increased security and made necessary arrangements from where popular Ganpatis will be paraded. Ganesh Chaturthi generally falls in the month of August or September. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in a grand affair in the country after ten days of celebrations. It is also known as ‘Vinayak Chaturthi’ or ‘Vinayaka Chavithi’. The deity of Lord Ganesha is worshiped for ten days after which it is immersed in water on the eleventh day.
