Malala Yousafzai aka the ‘Girl who was shot’ was born on July 12, 1997 in Mingora, Pakistan. The brave young girl who escaped from the clutches of Afghanistan’s terror force Taliban when she was just 14 years old has turned 17 now. In the years after the incident, she spoke at the United Nations and authored the book I Am Malala.
We share an exclusive candid interview of Malala with The Daily Show aired on Comedy Central where she speaks about the Taliban’s rise to power in Pakistan. Malala innocently remembers all that happened in her hometown in the Swat Valley, and also explains that the Taliban does not want women to be educated because that would lead to more power to them, they believe.
She also speaks of her courage of speaking out rather than relying on the government to tackle terrorism. She also coolly shares how she came to know about the Taliban’s threat to her through Googlesearch, and had earlier thought of hitting her attacker simply with a shoe. But then thought otherwise and rather thought of telling the Talib the importance of education.
Malala also shares her views on what according to her is the wrong interpretation of Islam by Taliban.
