Last year too in January, Sreenivasan was admitted after suffering a stroke reportedly. His actor-director-producer-son, Vineeth Sreenivasan had, however, posted on Facebook that his father had suffered variations in blood sugar levels but was out of danger.
Having starred in more than 200 films, the 62-year-old had made his debut in 1977 film Manimuzhakkam and has a plethora of popular Malayalam films to his writing credit ever since. Sreenivasan even directed two films, Vadakkunokkiyanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, where the latter won the National Award for the Best Film on Other Social Issues in 1998. Last year, his film Njan Prakashan, which released during Christmas, was appreciated by critics and the audience alike. Helmed by Sathyan Anthikad, the comedy film was written by Sreenivasan, starred Fahadh Faasila and was a hit at the Kerala box office.
