Maruti Baleno Modified And Sold as Second-hand Mercedes A-Class in Kerala, Police Confiscate Car

The car which has been illegally modified was confiscated by RTO of Tirur in Malappuram District.

The red shining card in the picture may look like a Mercedes A-Class, but it is not. It is an ordinary Maruti Baleno modified to look like a stylish car not. The car which has been illegally modified was confiscated by The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Tirur in Malappuram District. Reportedly, the original owner of the car modified the car by replacing its bumper with a Mercedes Diamond grille, alloy wheels, logo, head, tail lamps and sporty wheels. The owner spends around three lakhs on the modifications.

However, reports also suggest that the first owner sold it to a second party, who made the changes. And after having a tiff with the buyer, the seller filed a complaint which brought the car and its new identity to the limelight. It was changed to an extent that even Mercedes dealers found it difficult to identify it as modified one. While Baleno has been changed beyond recognition, it still has its original lights while the chrome A-Class grille and 5-spoke alloys, not pleasing to the eyes at all.

In an extreme mid to make it look like the luxurious car, the modified one has a diffuser and four exhaust tips, two on either of the modified bumper. The car’s bumper even features the ‘8’-shaped air vents something that is present in all the new cars these days. It took the RTO nearly two weeks to get hold of the person as it was hidden in the showroom of a second-hand car dealer. However, the RTO seized the Baleno and has issued a show cause notice to the owner. The alterations were done in a local workshop.
