The country just got to know more the five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, Mary Kom after her biopic starring Priyanka Chopra made a roar in Bollywood. Being the only woman to win medals in that category her fame had reached peaks with everyone suddenly talking about the boxing girl who made the country proud with her talents.
ROFL India, just to check the general knowledge of youth of the nation went out asking some facts about the boxer. While people miserably failed in telling the full form of the initials of her name MC by thinking that it stood for Mahima Choudary, some thought that she was a typical Punjabi kudi. However, there were many who had basic knowledge about the boxer. People clearly refused when asked if she was a hockey champion and also said that she is from Manipur.
She is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight category and also won bronze medal. She has also been ranked as no. 4 AIBA World Women’s Ranking Flyweight category. Considering the increasing number of crimes against women in the country, she has now started a fight club in Imphal where she teaches young girls how to defend themselves. She wants Priyanka Chopra to be brand ambassador of the academy.
