In the competitive world of business, there are few success stories as inspiring as that of Rizwan Sajan, who rose from a modest beginning to one of the richest entrepreneurs in the Middle East. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai, he faced financial struggles early on. To support himself, he took up various small jobs, selling books and milk on the streets. However, life took a drastic turn when he lost his father, pushing him to seek better opportunities abroad.

In 1981, he moved to Kuwait, where he began working as a trainee salesman. This job proved to be a stepping stone, giving him valuable business insights and experience in sales. He honed his skills, determined to carve out a better future for himself.

A defining moment in his career came in 1993, when he took a bold step and founded Danube Group, initially focused on construction materials. Through dedication and strategic expansion, the company grew into a massive enterprise, diversifying into home decor and real estate development. Today, Danube Group operates across multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and India, making it one of the leading companies in its sector. By 2019, Danube Group reported an impressive annual turnover of USD 1.3 billion.

Despite building a multi-billion-dollar business, Rizwan gives credit to his success to his ‘salesmanship’ quality. He proudly declared himself as the best ‘salesman’. In a viral Instagram video, he confidently stated, “I am a very good salesman, and this is my biggest quality.” He attributes his achievements not to wealth or privilege but to his ability to sell, negotiate, and connect with people.

Under his leadership, Danube Group expanded beyond the UAE, strengthening its presence across the Gulf and India. Today, the company generates Rs 32 crore every day, and his total assets are valued at USD 2.5 billion (Rs 20,830 crore). Rizwan Sajan’s journey from a young street vendor in Mumbai to a billionaire real estate tycoon in Dubai is an inspiring testament to the power of resilience and vision.
