We still aren’t over the news of the latest iPhone 6s and here’s Apple already planning the iphone 6c. While Apple tried the ‘c’ experiment before with iPhone 5c, it failed miserably and there wasn’t much of a surprise when Apple decided to ditch the 6 during the launch of the iPhone 6 and the 6s. However, rumours have been going strong for sometime now suggesting that a mini-iPhone or a “cheaper” iPhone is on the cards for Apple. Apple has always been known for it’s powerful system coupled with a neat and small package – something that has changed with the recent iPhones. And a smaller iPhone does make complete sense, especially for those who do not wish to jump in on the large screens bandwagon.

Many prototypes of the iPhone 6c have been floating around on the internet and recently, there have been many “leaks” when it comes to the iPhone 6c design. While none of the leaks have come from any official sources but rather from multiple Chinese sites, they all seem similar and point to a metal encased smaller-iPhone-6esque phone which ease our doubts as to the authenticity of these. Clearly, Apple plans to avoid the disaster that the iPhone 5c was and instead of the plasticated look, iPhone 6c will retain the metal look. However, the one thing the iPhone 6c does seem to retain from the 5c are the colours. It looks pretty much like your iPod touch but with a SIM card and calling facility.

The iPhone 6c will feature a 4-inch Retina display with a pixel resolution of 1136×64o. The screen is expected to be a 2.5D curved glass for better viewing. On the hardware front, the phone will reportedly be powered by A9 processor and 2GB RAM (though Apple might cut the RAM to 1 or 1.5GB as it is not exactly known to be generous when it comes to RAM). The battery will set it apart from the iPhone 5s at of 1642mAh. The camera is rumoured to be 8MP rear end camera with a basic FaceTime front end camera.

Looking at the past debacle Apple faced with iPhone 5c, it makes sense for Apple to strengthen the iPhone 6c hardware instead of revamping iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s in the garb of a 6c. Also, with Apple having just one major phone launch a year unlike Android counterparts that have atleast 2 major launches a year, having a launch mid-year can prove to be beneficial for Apple and considerably add to it’s sales. India still being a price sensitive market, having an iPhone 6c will definitely help boost Apple’s “affordable” tag in the country.
