Miss America pageant 2019 is all geared up to scrap swimsuits and bringing in new age two pieces outfit that will be inclusive to women of all sizes. Chairwoman of the Miss America board of directors, Gretchen Carlson, announced on the show on Tuesday that the pageant will no longer feature a swimsuit portion. The contestants of the competition will be taking part in a live interaction with the judges where they will highlight their achievements and goals in life and how they will be using their talents, passion and ambition to perform the job of Miss America.

The 97-year-old event is also being revamped in the next edition contestants will be allowed to wear whatever they choose. Contestants would also discuss that how they will advance their social-impact initiatives. Carlson said in a statement, “The rise of the #MeToo movement is powering the changes. We’re experiencing a cultural revolution in our country with women finding the courage to stand up and have their voices heard on many issues. Miss America is proud to evolve as an organisation and join this empowerment movement.”

For the first time, the Miss America organisation is being led by women. The next edition of Miss America will be held on September 9, 2018, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
