Katni viral video: A video went viral on social media platforms on Saturday, showing goats munching on midday meal alongside children at an anganwadi centre in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district, triggering outrage among netizens, and prompting the state authorities to launch a probe into the incident.

In the video, which has been widely shared on social media sites, a bunch of kids are seen eating their midday meal an anganwadi centre (government-run pre-nursery centre), while goats are feeding right next to them from the plates, eating the same food.

According to media reports, the incident took place at an anganwadi centre in Sehra Tola of Kothi village in the tribal-dominated Dhimarkheda tehsil, where the facility is being run run from a private, dilapidated building due to lack of a government school in the area.

The children were reportedly served the same food which the goats in the video are seen munching on, even as the anganwadi worker and assistant are not seen nearby.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the district panchayat Harsimranpreet Kaur said she has ordered a probe into the incident after it came to her notice on Friday.

Programme officer of the Women and Child Development Department Vanshree Kurveti said show-cause notices were issued to supervisor Anita Pradhan and anganwadi worker Meena Baiga, PTI reported.

“The report is likely to be received by tomorrow, and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty,” she said.
