Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Gujarat’s Vantara, a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation center. It has become home for over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals of more than 2,000 species. During his visit, PM Modi explored the facility and reviewed efforts being taken to care for wildlife.
Vantara has nearly 25,000 animals from 48 species, each animal is kept in such enclosures which are similar to their natural habitats. The Prime Minister observed different creatures like Golden Tigers, Snow Leopards, and four Snow Tigers who were rescued from a circus.
He also saw Chimpanzees and a playful orangutan, Hippopotamuses Crocodiles and an Okapi, a rare species, Zebras, a giraffe, and a rhino orphaned after its mother’s death. There were also unique creatures like a giant python, a rare two-headed snake, and a two-headed turtle.
PM Modi also visited the world’s largest elephant hospital at Vantara, where elephants are kept in hydrotherapy tubs to treat arthritis and foot ailments. He saw the release of rescued parrots back into the wild.

Vantara’s Conservation
Vantara is led by Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani. It is a center dedicated to rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating animals in India and globally. The center has a team of over 2,100 experts to help animals in different ways.
Big Cats: Over 300 big felines, including tigers, lions, leopards, and jaguars are there at the facility.
Leopards: Approximately 200 leopards, injured in traffic accidents or man-animal conflicts, have been rescued from different parts of India.
Herbivores and Reptiles: It also supports 300 herbivores like deer and over 1,200 reptiles, including crocodiles, snakes, and turtles.
The center not only rehabilitates animals but also sets a global benchmark for conservation and humane treatment.
