Suhana Sayeed, a singer from Karnataka is being trolled online for singing a Hindu devotional song in a reality show. Suhana has become the latest among to women to fall prey to cyberbullying for singing a song that does not represent her community. A Facebook page began trolling her on the internet for singing Hindu song despite being a Muslim. Suhana who sang the song in Kannada was appreciated by the judges for her performance. One of the judges, Kannada music director Arjun Janya said that she stood as a symbol of unity and put on display how all religions can live together in harmony through music. However, her talent did not matter to the fanatics who called her a disgrace to the community. It is a Facebook page called Mangalore Muslims who have been causing the trouble. Fortunately, Suhana also found supporters in the online community who are now planning to file a case against the trollers.

According to an India Today report, one of the comments on the Facebook page read, “Suhana you have tarnished the Muslim Community by singing in front of men. Do not feel that you have achieved a great feat; people who learn to recite Quran in 6 months have achieved more. Your parents have encouraged you to show your beauty to other men, they will not go to heaven because of you. Please give up the pardah that you are wearing as you don’t respect it.” Playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada raises voice against rape threats on Twitter!
