Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Bihar today (July 25) to kick-off the polls. Modi gave a speech at a function in Patna at the Veterinary College to launch government schemes, where he surprised everyone by praising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The prime minister criticised former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. It may be recalled that old rivals Nitish Kumar and his party Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had got together in a bid to oust Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. They were joined in by the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Modi took a dig at the Congress and also at Lalu Prasad’s tenure as railway minister. The PM was seen being very friendly with Nitish Kumar in Bihar. On the state’s condition, he said, “There is no alternative to development.
