Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu confirmed on June 5, 2014, that the BJP leader would be the next Lok Sabha Speaker. Known for her mild manners and universal appeal, Sumitra Mahajan, popularly known as Sumitra Tai, has been representing Indore in Lok Sabha since 1989. She was a Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1999 to 2004.
