New York subway passengers on Sunday braved the cold and showed up in their underwears for the annual ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ 2018. Hundreds of them rode without pants even after the city received more than a foot of snow a few days ago. This was the 17th annual edition of the event when fellow subway travellers strip down to their underwear and get on the train. Even though the temperature was 18 degrees at Central Park on Sunday, the turnout was more this year. The temperature fell to 5 degrees overnight on the weekend. This year, tourists clicked pictures with riders for pantless photos while some even danced to some music. The concept of the ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ is to meet fellow passengers in locations around the city, board the train, and start taking off their pants. Participants are encouraged to act naturally and respond to questions about their clothing by saying, “Oh, I just forgot to put on pants today.” Following which, the event enthusiasts meet at Union Square for a photo-op and after party. The event kicked-off at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in New York City, with commuters meeting at the Union Station. With bare legs braving the freezing temperatures, participants bundled up heavy layers of clothing on the upper half. Meanwhile, some commuters on the subway looked unimpressed by participant’s attire and preferred to remain submerged in their phones and tablets.
