In a remarkable milestone, a famous city in India has become the first one to function without traffic lights. It’s developed with smooth connectivity across underpasses, ring roads, and flyovers. Surprisingly, the city is a major student hub in the country for competitive exams and is not Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore. The city that has brought this innovation to reality is Rajasthan’s Kota.
The innovation of seamless connectivity without traffic signals was headed by Kota’s Urban Improvement Trust (UIT). It gave a new methodological approach to urban planning by the formation of an interconnected ring road network. It will further help in the reduction of traffic congestion, as vehicles will be able to pass through smoothly.
In the city, around 25 flyovers and underpasses have been formed. This has been done at the main intersection points so that vehicles can keep moving continuously without traffic signals.
This milestone may help the city to reduce traffic congestion. It may also save the time of commuters during long-distance travels. Alongside, many believe that this design will reduce the greater risks of accidents.
Kota is a major student hub in India. This development, aiming at the functioning of the roads without traffic signals, may help the city manage its traffic efficiently.
