The popular show which speaks about various crucial issues and shares a fresh opinion on problems is back and off to a great start. The first episode of season 2, On Air with AIB spoke on the long going debate of nationalism in India and the exact definition of patriotism and nationalism. On Air with AIB spoke on various issues starting with their favourite target, Pahlaj Nihalani and ending on the debate of the season, the national anthem in movie theatres. Titled Nationalism vs Anti-Nationalism, the first episode is full of sensible opinion and brings out a hidden subject, the Finance bill and its implications on the political funding. Let’s talk about sex, baby: Lipstick Under My Burkha and AIB video A Woman’s Besties, sexuality from a woman’s point-of-view on film!
The 23-minute episode is titled Nationalism vs Anti-Nationalism and covers all the recently debated topics and does complete justice to every topic. Full of the hilarious one-liners and comparison jokes that made AIB one of the best stand-up groups on Youtube, the episode leaves a mark and leaves you intrigued. Gursimran Khamba and Ashish Shakya started the show by talking about Pahlaj Nihalani and his decision to ban Lipstick under my Burkha. Khamba and Shakya point out how the men at Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cannot comprehend the fact that women have sexual needs too. The first segment of the show speaks on this long going debate and questions the logic given by CBFC claiming the movie to be “too female-oriented.” They also questioned the certification of movies like Grand Masti and Mastizade which merely objectified women.
The second part of the show had our favourite Rohan Joshi speak about the Gurmehar Kaur row with Ashish Shakya. Rohan points out how a woman being given rape threats for voicing her opinions is completely normal and spoke about the issue with this attitude. The two Bakchod members accepted the fact that a nation of 1.3 billion people will have varied opinions but spoke about how it is important to respect other people’s opinion and stop the rape and death threats.
The last part of the first episode of On Air with AIB has a sketch where we finally see Tanmay Bhatt. The sketch shows the current scenario of India where wheelchair-bound people have been beaten up for not standing at attention for the national anthem in theatres. The sketch has a hilarious representation of people in theatres and will leave you in splits. The important part of this episode was when AIB highlighted another important happening that has been left out by the reporting world, the finance bill. The Finance Bill that is being presented at the parliament will help political parties to keep the information on their funding completely anonymous, giving way for black money hoarders to continue their transactions. This crucial issue has been sidelined as various debates on nationalism and anti-nationalism take over the news channels and needs our attention. You can watch the entire episode here.
The first season of On Air with AIB had ten episodes which became immensely popular. The second season plans to have more episodes as On Air with AIB will be airing thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The first episode managed to enlighten people on various crucial topics and we cannot wait for the next episode of this hilarious and informative web series.
