It’s Halloween and Twitterati around the world are sending wishes. Halloween is an annual day celebrated on October 31 remembering the dead. Soon, Mumbai Police also joined the Twitterverse wishing everyone a safe Halloween, obviously with a twist. Playing around with words like they generally do, Mumbai Police tweeted saying, “If you try to ‘trick’ us, we will make sure we ‘treat’ you right #HappyHalloween.” You saw what they did there? Since joining Twitter, the city police have been showing off their quirks addressing social issues and others in the wittiest way possible. The text on the photo of the tweet reads, “No matter what disguise you commit a crime in, we will find you #HapppyHalloween.”
Mumbai Police is known for tweeting about social issues adding their wit and pun. And it is not just Mumbai cops, Bengaluru, Nashik, Pune and even Kolkata police have joined Twitter in addressing issues creatively. Catering to the internet audience, all of them hilariously include references from Netflix dramas and popular TV shows. Memes and GIFs of Game of Thrones, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Narcos, Stranger Things often find a way into their tweets.

Trick-or-treating is a part of Halloween customs for children in many countries. Dressed in different costumes, children go from house-to-house, asking for treats with the phrase ‘trick or treat’. Mumbai Police tweets against online fraud, identity theft, and the risk of meeting strangers online during #CyberSafetyWeek was widely praised on social media. They also tweet ahead of festivals and events asking citizens to be safe. Their tweets have always struck a chord with the online audience who have applauded their efforts.
