With the 89^th Oscars 2017 just around the corner, making us prouder than ever is the British actor of Indian descent, Dev Patel who has been nominated for his brilliant performance in the 2016 drama, Lion. Born to Kenyan-born Hindu Indian parents, we all remember Dev Patel as the gawky, awkward and lanky boy from the 2008 British drama film, Slumdog Millionaire. Making a stark and remarkable progression from there on, today Dev Patel is undeniably one of the most stylish actors. From awkward red carpet poses to a sought-after style bearer, Dev Patel has indeed come a long way. AND not to forget the absolutely strong stubble/ beard game and that sexy AF unruly mane is what renders Dev Patel’s metamorphosis quite strong from his early man-child Slumdog Millionaire days.

Playing the role of Saroo Brierley, a Tasmanian man who was separated from his birth mother at the tender age of five, placed in an orphanage and then adopted by a couple from Hobart, Australia. Using Google Earth to trace his roots, Dev aka Saroo desperately seeks out his mother and eventually reunites. The movie chronicles this incredible story and is directed by Garth Davis and also stars Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and Priyanka Bose. Dev Patel is a method actor and experiments, as is evident from his choice of movies. Attuning to the requirements of the role of Saroo in Lion, Dev Patel’s impressive transformation for the film included Google maps training, Australian reality TV watching and a massive physical makeover. All this not only scored him nominations across the prestigious platforms like the Golden Globe Awards 2017, BAFTA 2017 and now the Oscars 2017 but also brought to the fore, his rare and sparkling charisma. The 2008 Slumdog Millionaire lead actor Dev Patel was a dorky boy-next-door who was also dating his lead actress Freida Pinto and the couple was in a relationship for six years until they called quits in 2014.

Well, we cannot decide what’s bad – the unflattering fit or the shoes or the sheer discomfort on his face!

BUT! Lion seemed to have waved some sort of magic wand transforming this dorky boy-next-door into a handsome hunk-next-door with a beefy look, long, unruly hair and the snazzy beard!

Clearing a trendsetter, Dev Patel went on to win hearts and astound fashion pundits with his choice of fabrics, cuts and an enviable demeanour.
