And this year too, one of the highlights of the event was Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue at the start of the event. Kimmel who took the hosting duties for the Academy awards for the second time in a row pointed out how this year Oscars had its first female nominee for cinematography, Rachel Morrison and how Greta Gerwig was the only female nominee in the directing category. While many praised Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue there were few who felt that the speech was not funny and up to the mark and few said that he was the “worst host ever”.
