Richest Hindu woman in Pakistan: Pakistan is home to over 52 lakh Hindus, forming 2.17 percent of the country’s total population, and while the majority of Hindus, akin to their Muslim brethren, are faced with dire financial conditions, there are a few members of the minority community that have earned a life of luxury and are counted among the richest in the south Asian country.
One such individual is Sangeeta, also known as Parveen Rizvi, a renowned filmmaker and actress, who is considered as the richest Hindu woman in Pakistan.
Born on June 14, 1958 in Karachi, Parveen Rizvi is an award-winning Pakistani film actress, filmmaker and director of television drama serials. Parveen, better known by her professional name, Sangeeta, began her acting career as a child star in the 1969 Pakistani film ‘Koh-e-Noor’.
Later, in 1971, Sangeeta moved to Lahore and officially kicked off her career in Lollywood with a supporting role in Riaz Shahid’s ‘Yeh Aman’. After acting in dozens of Pakistani films, Sangeeta moved on to become a filmmaker, making her first film ‘Society Girl’, in 1976, which turned out be a critically-acclaimed hit.
Over her 45-year career, Sangeeta has over 120 films to her credit as an actress and a producer-director. In 2022, on the occasion of country’s Independence Day on August 14, Sangeeta was felicitated with the with the Pride of Performance by the Pakistani Government, recognizing her immense contributions towards the film and television industry.
Some of memorable performances include her roles in iconic Pakistani movies like ‘Nikah,’ ‘Mutthi Bhar Chawal,’ ‘Yeh Aman,’ and ‘Naam Mera Badnaam.’
Notably, Parveen’s mother, Mehtab Rizvi, was also involved in show business, while her younger sister, Nasreen Rizvi (professionally known as Kaveeta) is also associated with the Pakistani film industry. Additionally, she is the aunt of British-American Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, who tragically died by suicide at her Mumbai home in June 2013.
Parveen Rizvi, or Sangeeta, is regarded as the richest Hindu woman in Pakistan, earning around Rs 39 crore annually, according to various media reports.
While there are no publicly available details about Parveen Rizvi’s wealth, several media reports have pegged her estimated fortune to be around Rs 200-250 crore, making her one of the richest individuals in cash-strapped Pakistan.
