Comedy Nights with Rahul GandhiWe still haven’t gotten over Rahul Gandhi’s mesmerising interview with Arnab Goswami of TIMES NOW and while we expected Arnab to be his usual voracious angry self, what we instead got was the most legendary political interview this nation, perhaps the world, has ever witnessed. It was hilarious with Rahul routinely referring to himself in the the third person, dodging all questions about Narendra Modi and talking about things that Arnab Goswami simply hadn’t asked. For ages political analysts will try to decipher why Rahul behaved the way he did but we think we’ve figured out the answer:

It was a clever ruse to deviate attention from NaMo and AAP

kejriwal-modiFor the last few months, poor Rahul and Congress are finding it very hard to be in the news. No one cares much for corruption anymore and Arvind Kejriwal and AAP and Modi and BJP were getting all the coverage. The advertising firm that the Congress hired suggested that the only way to undo this was give the stupidest interview feasible that would bring Rahul and Congress back in the news and being a good mummy’s boys he complied! He memorised the entire speech

One logical explanation could be that mugged up the entire speech in the grand old tradition of most college students and just regurgitated it in front of Arnab, irrespective of the question. So what if some of the stuff didn’t make sense, at least he could string two sentences together!

He was high

WeedWe’ve seen celebrities give bizarre interviews before mostly under the influence of substances, the most recent being Dennis Rodman after his trip to North Korea and maybe Rahul too was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Maybe he smoked some funny stuff to calm his nerves (an impending meeting with Arnab can have that effect on people) before he got to the studio. Or maybe he does that all the time – that certainly explains his behaviour over the years! (Read: Rahul VS Arnab – the best jokes)

He is thinking of a career in comedy

Comedy NightsRahul’s future in India’s political landscape looked bleak with more and more people including his Mummy realising that he’s simply not cut for politics. Congress refusing to name the prime ministerial candidate was the final straw and Rahul decided he needed a career change! People were already laughing at him anyway and he felt he could give the likes of Kapil Sharma a run for their money. So what better place to give an audition than the an interview with Arnab Goswami with the whole world watching?

He is very feminist

Women's rightsOr maybe all of us are just not getting it, Rahul Gandhi is a die-hard feminist and an egalitarian individual who truly believes in women’s rights and empowerment and that’s why he felt the need to air that view again and again!  He was trying to impersonate Arvind Kejriwal

ArvindFor the last year, Rahul Gandhi has seen a common man step out of nowhere and go on to become the Chief Minister by using the words Aam Aadmi with a combination of other phrases. He felt that he could garner similar popularity by repeating RTI and women’s empowerment!
