Bengaluru: While the entire world celebrated Valentine’s Day on Friday, Bengaluru witnessed a rather unique and special event on the day of love — a wedding ceremony of horses! Yes, two horses named Raja and Rani, were married off at the city’s Cubbon Park amid the presence of hundreds of citizens. The wedding was performed by pro-Kannada activist and Kannada Vatal Party chairman Vatal Nagaraj, who has conducted such ceremonies in the past too. For the Friday ceremony, a dhoti and shirt was provided to Raja (male horse), while a saree along with a taali (mangal sutra) was given to Rani (female horse).

The wedding was performed as per Hindu culture and sweets were also distributed to all the guests who had participated in the marriage ceremony.



When asked about this unique idea, Nagaraj said that he is all for love and urged anti-Valentine’s Day activists to not oppose lovers and their Valentine’s Day celebrations.

He also urged the central government and the state government of Karnataka to give Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively to the “lovers to support love” by helping them get married, news agency ANI reported.
