The exam conducted by CBSE between March 9 and April 29 earlier this year announced the results after much delay. Speaking to the media, an excited and rightly overwhelmed Raksha Gopal said, “I still can’t believe the result, my aim was to do well but did not expect to top.” Science student Bhumi Sawant of DAV School in Chandigarh’s Sector 8 is the second topper with 99.4 percent and Commerce students Aditya Jain of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir and Mannat Luthra of Bhavan Vidyalaya in Chandigarh both scored 99.2 percent to become the third and fourth CBSE 12th toppers. This year’s overall India pass percentage for CBSE Class 12 has slightly dipped with 82 per cent while previous year, it was 83.05 per cent. Nevertheless, there are more students who have scored above 95 percent. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar spoke to all the toppers and congratulated them. Raksha Gopal is basking in the glory after continuing the girls dominance on the toppers list. Nearly 11 lakh, including 6,38,865 boys and 4,60,026 girls candidates appeared for the CBSE Class 12 exam this year as compared to 10,67,900 with 6,21,259 boys and 4,46,641 girls in 2016. It was an increase of 2.82% over the last year’s numbers. The Central Board of Secondary Education has opened a helpline number 1800118004 for counselling for students. As many as 65 counsellors will be speaking to students and parents on this helpline number between 8am -10pm.
