Yes, we get it. You’re still hungover from the awesomeness that was the Apple iPhone 6S launch event. The iPad Pro has blown your mind. You’ve already contacted all your banks checking balances for the next iPhone 6S. And then, suddenly your eyes fall on that slim white stick. The Apple Pencil. And you just want that! You absolutely have to have that. But before you do, just pause a minute. Grab a pen and jot this down. Quickly.
What happened? Hunting for a pen? Do you honestly remember the last time you did NOT lose one of your pens or pencils? Or the time you did not borrow them? Pens are perhaps the most lost objects in the world. Lost and never found. And this is exactly why we really hate the pencil. It’s a pencil which has no stand. The whole reason Samsung Galaxy Note series made the stylus so convenient was because they came inbuilt with the phone. The stylus is just inserted right back into the phone once the use is over. And come to think of it, doesn’t every device that uses a stylus house a special slot for the stylus?
In their haste, Apple seems to have forgotten the most important thing: a slot for the Apple Pencil. While we do agree that the Apple Pencil is not an inbuilt pencil and has to be purchased separately, it is damned inconvenient to keep hunting it all over the place. Imagine yourself sitting on the couch, placing the pencil next to you and the pencil rolls off between the cushions. You could have a nightmare of a time hunting for the thing. Not to mention how it would become the latest plaything for all your cats!

So yeah, extremely inconvenient considering there’s just no place to put it in. The next fail is obviously the price. $99 for a Pencil?! Really? I mean, we do know it’s Apple and Apple comes nowhere close to cheap, but then, a pencil, is a pencil, is a pencil. Why couldn’t have Apple just bundled the Apple Pencil with the iPad Pro and be done with it? Hike the price of the Pro probably. Anyways, at $1049 for the 128GB LTE version, it isn’t really budget friendly. Add a pencil slot, increase the price by another 100 dollars and everyone’s happy. A more sensible move perhaps, Apple?
Next, it’s not only a pencil that you will get paranoid about losing as it is so darned expensive but then, it has to be charged too! Yes, you can stick it in your iPad Pro to charge it. Make your iPad Pro look like your grandma’s TV with the antenna sticking out. The retro look is back in! Apple has just made the Apple Pencil a completely cumbersome gadget instead of a breeze.
Coming to the most important point. Steve Jobs hated styluses. Wasn’t that the entire point of the the iPhone in the first place? Eliminating stylus? So first, Cook goes back on what Apple said about the display sizes and introduces the iPhone Plus. Next, comes the stylus. We can see Steve not just turning in his grave but probably plotting extreme revenge from down under or up there – wherever they aren’t letting his soul rest.
