The expiration of Reliance Jio’s welcome offer on December 31, 2016, was followed by its latest plan named, Happy New Year offer which continues its free calling plan and also provides 1 GB data free per day. Following this move, Indian government-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) launched its version of New Year Plan. The below chart gives a comparison of the benefits offered by Reliance Jio, Airtel and BSNL under the Happy New Year Plans.
On comparing the plans laid out by these service providers, it is evident that Jio is the master of free plans. According to reports, Reliance Jio is estimated to have 100 million users by the end of March 2017. However, it is known that the users will reduce once Reliance reveals their actual data plans. The New Year plan for BSNL is economical but the free data offered is very less according to the average data usage. The plan provided by Airtel seems to be the best offer for the long run as it offers sufficient data as well as free calling for a nominal amount.
Reliance Jio came into existence a few months back and had transformed the internet usage. Their free data and call plans made video calls a common affair and made us all accustomed to the users continuously using up data on Youtube, App stores and everywhere possible. The war of the telecoms to garner a larger customer base has been an action packed event since then, and these new and attractive offers prove that the customers will finally have good and economic options.
