The Kensington Palace has announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will receive the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex as per tradition from the Queen after they tie the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle today.
Meghan Markle will become the first woman to lawfully receive the title of Her Royal Highness Duchess of Sussex. The previous Duke of Sussex had been married twice without approval from George III who was also his father. Therefore the marriages were considered unlawful.
The titles are bestowed by the Queen as a gift too when a relative comes of age or gets married.

There are many titles to choose from like duke, earl, baron, viscount or marquess. Duke is considered the highest honour amongst all of the titles available.
Prince William received more than one title when he got married to Kate Middleton, He became the Duke of Cambridge as well as Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
Prince Charles received The Duke of Cornwall and Prince Andrew became Duke of York.
