Shah Rukh Khan‘s 1989 television serial Circus is being aired again on national channel Doordarshan from February 19, 2017, and SRK’s fans can’t get enough of him! The King of Bollywood started his film career with Deewana (1992) and soon gave several memorable movies for his fans to cherish. Shah Rukh Khan began his career with the TV show Dil Dariya (1988) and Doosra Keval (1989-90) but became a heartthrob with Fauji (1989) where he played an army officer. Shah Rukh Khan also became popular with another 1989 TV show, Circus, which featured the charming actor in the lead role. The serial was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. Circus was about a circus troupe and Shah Rukh Khan played the character of Shekharan, a Malayalee circus owner. The show also starred actor-filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and Bollywood actresses Renuka Shahane and Mita Vashisht, among others.
Circus is now back on the small screen and its a treat to all Shah Rukh Khan fans. The show began telecast on Sunday, February 19 at 8 pm IST on Doordarshan, and will be aired daily. “Good news for @iamsrk Fans – DON’T MISS @iamsrk’s #Circus – Popular TV Series (1989) – From 19th Feb at 8 pm only on @DDNational,” the public broadcaster tweeted. Supriya Sahu, Director General, Doordarshan National, told PTI, “We are considering having a dedicated half an hour time slot on which popular programmes and content from Doordarshan’s archives may be shown. After the success of Circus, Shah Rukh gained recognition through Fauji (1989) serial wherein he played the character of Abhimanyu Rai. Within no time, Shah Rukh Khan gained a lot of attention with his charm. After that he was also seen in serials like Mani Kaul’s Idiot (1991), Umeed (1989), Doosra Keval (1989-90) and Wagle Ki Duniya (1988–90), among others.
Early in his career, Shah Rukh Khan played villainous roles in movies like Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Soon he started doing romantic films including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), to name a few.
