Sarfraz Ahmed led Pakistan cricket team defeated Team India to become ICC Champions Trophy 2017 winners. The celebrations were as expected – loud and poking fun at India. But a Pakistani fan crossed his lines (read: invited troubles) when he dared to take a dig at Bollywood superstar actor Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom. The man tweeted pictures of Sarfraz Ahmed with the Champions Trophy amidst cheering crowds in Pakistan and captioned it as ‘SRK Who?’ He was boasting of the large crowd present to welcome the cricketer, but his mindless comparison did not only angry King Khan Fans in India but Pakistan as well. He was slammed by devoted fans of Jab Harry Met Sejal actor on the social media platform, which would hopefully serve as a good lesson. India vs Pakistan clashes on the cricket field has its own hype. Both are cricket frenzy nations, and with a history of political unrest, the battle in the ground only becomes fiercer. Hence when Sarfraz Ahmed’s boys beat Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team in a one-sided Champions Trophy 2017 final at the Oval is special. While the players from both sides showed the true spirit of game and sportsmanship, few fans did not stop the mudslinging.
We saw the video of a Pakistani fan taking constant jibes at the Indian team by asking – Baap Kaun Hai (Who’s your daddy?), almost leading to an altercation with an angry Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami. It was avoided with timely intervention by former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who calmed and controlled the situation. The stream of nasty comments continued on the social media against the country and the team. But what completely left everyone surprised was the uncalled for dig taken at Shah Rukh Khan, country’s biggest superstar who enjoys a massive fan following worldwide including Pakistan.

A Twitter user with handle @iUsmanJameel posted pictures of Sarfraz Ahmed getting a grand welcome after returning to the country as Champions Trophy 2017 winners. All this was fine, but the mindless caption along with the pictures led to a massive disruption on the micro-blogging platform. It read – SRK who? Well, clearly the man tried to take on Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom and huge fan following but as expected fell flat on his face. While Indian fans blasted the guy for his attention-seeking antics, it was pleasant to watch Pakistan fans of the actor join in the bulldozing process.

Shah Rukh Khan might not have minded an ignorant question as this Twitter user posted, but his fans do. The way the fans joined hands to destroy the attention-seeker shows the amount of love 51-year-old actor gets from his ardent fans. Pakistan played well to win the match against India by 180 runs. They outsmarted our team in every department of the game but the end of the day it’s a sport – you win some, you lose some. So it is pure stupidity to be insulting and mocking against other teams. It is high time fans across the border learnt to maintain dignified sportsmanship or at least from each others’ players.
