Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam is not ready to back out of the struggle to ban loudspeakers from religious places. The singer-actor, who has been in a huge controversy since the past week for objecting to the early morning Azaan he has to listen because he has a mosque near his home, had to shave his head when a so-called maulvi objected to his tweets on the ‘issue’. Sonu Nigam this morning has yet again fuelled the fire by tweeting about a video of a dark morning sky before dawn that has the audio of the Azaan.

Sonu Nigam said on Twitter, ” Goodmorning India” (sic) and posted the audio of the Azaan being heard near his house as early as 5 am IST. What is he trying to prove? We don’t know how disturbing a melodious Azaan can be, but it is true that loudspeakers should be at low volume at all religious places and during festivals. But the way Sonu Nigam is bringing this point up may not be correct. Take a look at his tweet and tell us what you feel.

It seems the Azaan controversy is not over yet, and Sonu Nigam is trying to gather people for some kind of movement against what he thinks is noise. While some celebrities have objected to Sonu Nigam’s stance on the issue, some have come out in full support of the singer, including Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri, actress Richa Chadha and someone as unlikely as Kamaal R Khan! KRK tweeted, “Now some C grade idiot producers are trying to threaten @sonunigam for boycott. If I will make any film, then Sonu will sing all the songs.” To which, Sonu Nigam replied, “Shukriya… Your support is appreciated..”. Sonu Nigam, Vivek Agnihotri tweet against religious ‘Gundagardi’ and ‘illegal’ blaring of Azaan, cook up a storm on Twitter!

Take a look at the tweets of KRK and Sonu Nigam.

Meanwhile, Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, the so-called Muslime cleric who had issued a fatwa of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who shaved Sonu Nigam’s head, reacted when Sonu Nigam went ‘bald’ on live television. He said, “Sonu Nigam has not done all the things I asked for, two out of the three things remain unfulfilled.”

On April 17 at 5.25 am, Sonu Nigam tweeted, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India”. In his next tweet, he said, “And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?” Sonu Nigam added, “I don’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don’t follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?” Sonu Nigam reached to his own conclusion then and said, “Gundagardi hai bus…”.

After his tweets that day, all hell broke loose on Twitter and he had to also shave his head off to prove his point. But just as people were ready to forget about the incident, Sonu Nigam again tweeted, this time with an audio of the Azaan, to ‘prove’ his point. This controversy is not dying out yet and there may be more to it than meets the eye. Let’s wait and watch.
